The Comeback Still Rising

Chron "Hell Razah" Smith co-founded Sunz of Man and earned a gold record alongside Earth, Wind & Fire, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Wyclef Jean. In 2010 a brain aneurysm took nearly everything. He spent five years relearning how to walk, talk, and rhyme. Now he is finishing his comeback album while a new documentary films every step, and the culture is watching.

The Story

From Red Hook To Resurrection

Few artists ever get one act this dramatic. Hell Razah is living three.

ACT I The Rise

Out of the Red Hook projects, Razah co-founded Sunz of Man, the marquee group of the Wu-Tang family's extended universe. Their debut "The Last Shall Be First" reached No. 20 on the Billboard 200, and "Shining Star" with Earth, Wind & Fire, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Wyclef Jean was certified gold. Six solo albums followed, including "Renaissance Child" and "Razah's Ladder."

ACT II The Fall

In 2010, at the height of his run, a brain aneurysm put him in a coma. Doctors doubted he would ever perform again. He spent the next five years relearning everything: how to walk, how to talk, and finally, how to rhyme.

ACT III The Return

The documentary "Risen" (2020) told the survival story, and it streams free on Tubi today. The next chapter is being written right now: a comeback album produced by Hai with Wu-Tang family collaborations already recorded, a new documentary in production, and a milestone 50th birthday in October 2026.
